Lanzarote route of wines

Wine cellars Mozaga, tinache, El Patio, Vega de Yuco, La Vegueta,Reymar y las Quemadas

Wine cellar son the island are not far from each other, however we suggest two excursions that must be made at a leisure pace, so you can enjoy the environment and the time. These recommendations start from the same place: the Monument to Peasants, by the artist Cesar Manrique, with which he paid tribute to the centuries of farm work of Lanzarote´s men and women. This monument shows the tools and the way labour was carried out. Here comes the first wine route in Lanzarote island:

From the monument go half way around the roundabout and take the road to Tinaja, and after 200 metres it is the first stop right where you see the sign Bodega Mozaga, its installation started in 1880, its wide range of wines gives this winery its own identity. They use grapes grown in volcanic ash soils. Nowadays, this winery produces high quality wines that range in age. Its wines have earned such prestigious prizes as the Award for Vino muscatel Gran Solera Especial in 1975 or the Gold Medall in the Vinalies Contest, París 1999.

From the main road to Mancha Blanca turn to the right and go straig ahead. About one kilometre further you will find the winery Bodega Tinache. This winery has 20 hectares of own grapevines and is located within the Cortijo de LaVegueta next to the Tinache Mountain, in the way to the Timanfaya National Park. It is found in the municipality with the greatest number of grape growers and grapevines in Lanzarote. It is an area the Mavasia grape, the Tinta negramoll and Muscat grapes are predominant.

The wine cellar El Patio is in the village of Tiagua and is put up signs by the name of Agricultural Museum. Wine from the Malvasia grape is cultivated in the Museum vineyards. The young and fruity wine produced is the result of painstaking work by viniculturists. It is on sale exclusively in the Museum. Which is why we can guarantee the authenticity of origin and the excellent quality of this limited vintage. Recommended to be drunk cold.

Taking the road from the Monument to the Farmer towards uga you will arrive at Masdache where the Teleclub is situated and taking the turn to the left towards Tias you will find the winecellar after more or less one kilometre on the left hand side.

The wine Cellar Vega de Yuco is a young enterprise founded in 1997. its goal is to obtain a quality product combining traditional methods of manufacture with new technologies. The wine cellar´s layout, dug out in a small hill, allows using its different levels to convey the grape through all the stages until its final conversion into wine. The elaboration of small consignments of wine allows endowing it with its very own personality.

La Vegueta wine cellar is located on the road between Tiagua and Mancha Blanca, this wine cellar which produces wines using totally traditional methods has been founded just six years ago and its three wine varieties have been already recognized with several awards.

Reymar wine cellar is located in Mancha Blanca in the municipality of Tinajo opposite to the church of Los Dolores, it is a small family owned wine cellar founded in 1995 which produces wines using its own grapes or grapes belonging to other small producers in the area. This wine cellar produces specially muscatel sweet wine varieties or muscatel mixed with Malvasia and dry and semi dry wines with their own personality.

Finally Finca La Quemadas wine cellar islocated in La Vegueta in the municipality of Tinajo.
