The northwest route

Continuing in the same direction, we arrive at the Monumento al Campesino situated in the centre of the island. A work of art by cesar Manrique, our international reputed artist. From there on we head to Tinajo, passing the villages of Mozaga, tao, tiagua, where we can find the Agricultural Museum wine and hasndmade Art Centre El Patio, la Vegueta and Mancha Blanca with its hermitage, where they venerate the Virgin of the Volcanoes, who is the patron saint of Lanzarote.

From Tinajo on we can continue to La Santa, recognised centre for sport training. The way back can be made to La Caleta de Famara, fishermen´s village ar the bottom of the impressive precipice of Famara. There we find the beach with the same name. which whith its 5kms length is the largest of lanzarote. On that beach with its brave water one can enjoy a swim-with precaution.

From there we can go to the Villa de Teguise, historical capital of the island, which is worth visiting carefully. There we can en joy full length the incomparable colonial flavour which offers its cobbled streets, its churches and convents and old mansions. Here we find several shops where typical local handicraft is available. Moreover, you should of course visit the Fundation Cesar Manrique shop, where you can also buy souvenirs of our famous artist. In Teguise they celebrate a typical market on Sundays. Full of curiosities.
